Key Facts About Meshes & Filters
  1. Thinner & More Complex

Manufactured in a single piece, photo etched meshes can be more complex, thinner and have greater strength, making them more robust during handling.

  2. Zero Material Degradation

Whereas punch-perforated sheets are prone to distortion, photo etched mesh is burr and stress-free, with zero material degradation.

Typical Meshes & Filters Components
  • Medical filters
  • Juice filters
  • Coffee filters
  • Cranial mesh
  • Engineering Filters
  • Water filtration
  • Speaker grilles

Metal Selection

Xinhaisen offer a huge range of metals for etching including: Stainless Steels, Carbon Spring Steels, Copper, Brass, Nickel Silver, Mild steel, Phosphor Bronze, Silver, Beryllium Copper, Aluminium, Nickel, Mu Metal, Alloy 42, Alloy 52 & Many Others.

Benefits of Photo Etching
  1. Precise Tooling

The photo-tool artwork for photo chemical etching is free of charge here at Xinhaisen, as we like to invest in our customers future.

  2. Risk-Free Design

With the ability to produce rapid prototypes with short lead times, the complexity of your design is often not an issue. We will manufacture to your required drawings and to your exacting standards.

  3. Right First Time

The chemical etching process does not use mechanical force or heat, which means that the metals properties remain unchanged. The temper of material is also not altered and parts are completely burr-free and stress-free.

  4. No Finishing Required

Our metal etching process leaves no rough edges or burrs, therefore no additional deburring process is often required.

  5. A variety of Thicknesses

A huge variety of different material types and thicknesses can be photo etched, ranging from 0.0127mm through to 1.60mm thick.

  6. Tolerances From ±0.025mm

As your components features are all etched simultaneously, the complexity achievable can be impressive with profile tolerances achievable from ±0.025mm.

Filters, Screens & Sieves

Low-cost tooling and unlimited complexity for a range of filtration applications.

Xinhaisen offers an advanced chemical etching service for manufacturing filters, sieves and screens, outperforming traditional perforating techniques with greater speed, flexibility and cost-effectiveness.

TRADITIONAL SHEET METAL PERFORATION

Filters, screens and sieves play a crucial role within numerous engineering applications by separating solids from liquids or particles of different sizes. Stamping is the most widely used manufacturing process for perforating metal sheets due to its cost efficiency in large-scale production runs. However, it does have limitations, such as its limited flexibility, restricted customisation options for complex design, expensive tooling, constrained material choice and the potential for burrs and stresses.

Benefits of Chemical Etching:
  1. High Precision and Consistency
  2. Intricate Designs and Fine Detailing
  3. Complex Part Manufacturing
  4. Customisation and Prototyping
  5. Material Integrity Preservation
  6. Time and Cost Efficiency
  7. Environmental Friendliness

Our FAQ
  1. What is Photo / Chemical etching?

A process to manufacture metal components in thicknesses between 0.005mm to 2.5mm, in virtually all metals the capability of producing complex profiles using photographic digital tooling created from customer CAD files.

  2. Why should we use chemical etching?

Chemical etching is a fast efficient, cost-effective method for the manufacture of small precision metal parts, the ideal manufacturing process for both development prototype and production quantities. Parts produced by chemical etching are burr and stress-free, with the complexity of shape unlimited, plus the complete flexibility to change the design at any time.

  3. What metals can you etch?

We etch a wide range of metals from aluminium, beryllium copper, brass, copper, nickel silver, phosphor bronze, stainless steels, silver & developed special unique processes to etch technically challenging metals nickel superalloys, titanium, nitinol, molybdenum and many others.

  4. Are you able to etch Titanium, we understand it is difficult to etch?

All grades of titanium can be etched (alpha, beta & nitinol) through rigorous R&D we have developed our own unique (non HF) process to etch titanium alloys.

  5. Are you able to etch Aluminium, we understand it is difficult to etch?

All grades of aluminium can be etched (including clad) through rigorous R&D we have developed our unique process to etch aluminium up to 2.5mm thick.

  6. What kind of electronic files can you accept?

dwg, iges, dxf, gerber, step with fully dimensioned drawings or details of key features.
